About the school
The Elementary Art School (Základná umelecká škola) in Žarnovica is a public art school established by the Town of Žarnovica. It provides art education for children, youth and adults, and prepares talented students for further study at secondary and higher art schools.
The school offers four departments:
- Music Department — instrumental and vocal training (piano, keyboard, string, wind and percussion instruments, guitar, accordion, singing).
- Visual Arts Department — drawing, painting, graphic art, modelling, ceramics and multimedia work.
- Dance Department — classical, folk, modern and creative dance.
- Literary and Dramatic Department — acting, recitation and stagecraft.
Study is organised in preparatory, primary (level I and II) and extended study programmes according to the Slovak state educational programme for elementary art schools.
Admissions
Entrance auditions are held every year in spring; additional auditions may take place in September. Applications are submitted to the school office. Tuition fees are set by a generally binding regulation of the Town of Žarnovica. Details in Slovak: Prijímacie skúšky, poplatky.
